Description

The department of Calvados' leading natural preserved site, the Orne Estuary is of major ecological interest.

The Orne Estuary stretches across 5 communes and a surface of 1,000 hectares, over 300 of which are the property of the Coastal Conservancy. The Pointe du Siège and the Gros Banc nature reserve that form part of the estuary are protected sites, in particular due to their ornithological wealth and landscape. This 5km walking trail, including a 6 metre-high observation tower offers an excellent insight into the mouth of the Orne Estuary. On site, you will find a reception and information area. An information point on biodiversity has also been installed. A range of services are proposed to visitors (nature demonstrations/explanations, room hire, small boutique, picnic area, etc.). In the heart of this natural site, on the opposite bank, the Maison de la Nature et de l’Estuaire (nature and estuary centre), the property of the Calvados Council, invites you to discover the estuary's many treasures. Set off on a self-guided or an organised tour and discover the Gros Banc ornithological reserve.

Set off and discover this site, either by printing the nature trail or by downloading it on your mobile, free of charge, via the Cirkwi app.
