From 24 June 2022, the castle interior will be closed exceptionally, whilst the grounds and outdoor areas remain accessible, free of charge.
Visit the castle that offers the finest illustration of typical Norman architecture, and one of the Pays d’Auge’s finest jewels. This superb castle, surrounded by a moat, is a fine example of local 15th and 16th-century architecture, over a harmonious medley of half-timbering and varnished brick. For a long time, the castle belonged to the Riesener-Valland family. Inside, you can admire furniture pieces by the famous cabinetmaker, Jean-Henri Riesener, together with paintings by his grandson, Léon, who was a cousin of Eugène Delacroix. Since 1958, the castle is the property of the town of Lisieux. As you wait for, or immediately after your guided tour, you can relish in a choice of gourmet delights at the ‘Aux 3 Gourmands du Château’ tearoom and pancake house, located right next to the castle and offering splendid views of this fine property.
