Description

It all started back in 1851.

With simple, quality ingredients, the little moist little cake quickly began the speciality of the Jeannettes – as the workers of this biscuit factory were known – with a past reaching back over several decades. The Jeannette factory had its golden age in the 70s and 80s, enjoying an almost 40% share of the French biscuit market. In December 2013, the biscuit factory went into liquidation and its employees were made redundant. However, around twenty of them then occupied the factory to prevent its dismantling. This fight went on for over a year, rallying many supporters. One crowdfunding campaign later, and the funds required to purchase the production tools and relaunch the company were collected. And that's how, in September 2015, the Biscuiterie Jeannette 1850 launched its brand new production of high-quality madeleines. The company was awarded the Living Heritage Company label in November 2017, and today, the Jeannette madeleine is a widely recognised product and the real pride of the region.
