In January 1885, a whale, 19 meters long and weighing 40 tonnes was washed up the beach not far from Langrune-s-mer. Its squeleton has been exhibited since 1938 in the town hall park. The Whale Museum has an area dedicated to whales lo learn more about them, information about whale hunting and whale protection and a room dedicated to science. It is located in a pretty garden planted with flowers and trees, which also has a playground for children and farm animals.
