The Bayeux Tapestry is a long woollen embroidery on a linen canvas (70m x 50cm). It tells the story, in ‘pictures’, of the circumstances and the events around the expedition by William, Duke of Normandy, and his army, to conquer England. It ends in a striking portrayal of the Battle of Hastings, which enabled William to be crowned King of England in 1066.
The embroidery is a unique illustration of 11th-century life. The Bayeux Tapestry is an exceptional educational tool thanks to its original design and the didactic vocation behind its production.
