To inaugurate this Olympic year, the first Franciscan exhibition presents an exploration of the sporting gesture in its physical, technical and spiritual dimensions. The sporting gesture is an expression of the athlete's genius, between power and mastery, grace and performance. It is a formidable source of inspiration for artists.
Through eight sporting disciplines (tennis, soccer, rugby, boxing, high jump, diving, archery and running), "Sport: for the beauty of the gesture" looks at the aesthetics of the gesture that strives for perfection. The exhibition features a selection of works of art, documentary images, models and photographs from the collections of INSEP (Institut national du Sport, de l?Expertise et de la Performance), the Musée National du Sport, the Centre Pompidou and the iconothèque of the newspaper L?Équipe.
COMMISSARIAT: Thierry Grillet, former Director of Cultural Diffusion at BnF, essayist and writer.
The "Sport: for the beauty of the gesture" exhibition is part of the mobilization for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through the Cultural Olympiad set up by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee and Terre de Jeux 2024, of which Deauville is a member.
