Located in one of the few quarters spared by the 1944 bombings, the Desmares Manor, built in the 15th century, is a fine example of Lisieux's historical heritage.
This former salt barn has been restored and converted. Chocolate making laboratory on the first floor, sales area and tea room on the ground floor. The visit includes: a 22-minute video explaining the origins of cocoa, tasting session with different varieties, demonstration of the chocolate maker's skill. The ground floor is accessible and specially designed to enable disabled visitors to follow the visit (a TV screen relays the video and the demonstration). Disabled toilets.
Guided visits only during French School Holidays:
-February, April and October Holidays: on wednesdays and Saturdays at 3.30pm.
- From July 5th to August 27th: from tuesday to Saturday at 3.30.
