Maisons Satie is a unique visitor centre in Honfleur.
The composer, pianist… but also drawing artist, Erik Satie, was born here in 1866. ‘Ceci n’est pas un musée, ceci dit amusez-vous…’, (This is not a museum, but be amused) - such is the text you can read at the museum entrance! The original scenography literally plunges visitors into the composer’s musical world. Sound, light, image and miscellaneous objects pay tribute to Erik Satie’s whimsical, surreal, absurd yet poetic world. You will discover his collection of umbrellas and favourite false collars, his suits, diaries, drawings, collages, noted musical scores, sculptures and much more. Audio-guided tour in French or English lasts 45 minutes - 1 hour. Sale of ‘Pass’ Musées’ pass offering access to 3 museums: Maisons Satie, Eugène Boudin Museum and the Museum of Old Honfleur.
