The mouth of the Seine forms one of the largest Atlantic estuaries. Its nature reserve encompasses a vast wetland of over 8,500 hectares which is home to remarkable flora and fauna on a European scale.
If you are keen on walks in the great outdoors, the site offers six educational trails allowing you to discover different facets of this protected natural area: the area around the Pont de Normandie, the brackish marshes, the pier of the old Hode ferry, the Bois de Tancarville, the banks of the Seine and the Risle and the picturesque countryside of Conteville.
And for a first look at the natural world of the Seine estuary, come and discover the Maison de la Réserve - Salle Avocette.
Easily accessible by the A29 motorway, it is located at the foot of the Pont de Normandie on the Aire de la Baie de Seine. It hosts a permanent exhibition dedicated to this contrasting space, where our society tries to reconcile its aspirations to preserve biodiversity with those of continuing the economic development of the territory.
