THE FISHING PORT: an overview of the main economic activity in Port-en-Bessin-Huppain: fishing. Port-en-Bessin is the number 1 fishing port in Normandy. The visit takes you along the quays and includes the following themes: the different types of boat, fishing equipment, the kinds of fish caught, the various infrastructures and professions linked to traditional fishing. Visit duration in FR or EN: 1 hr 30 min / 2 hrs. Maximum capacity: 25 people per guide.
THE SHIPYARD AND CAREENING AREA: a visit to the Bernard shipyard, the shipwrights' workplace. The aroma of wood shavings and caulk fills the shipwright's workshop. This is a chance to find out more about the job. Outside, you will be able to see the shipwrights at work in the careening area.
FISH PROCESSING: a visit to an unusual place: the fish workshop, where the fish are processed after purchase at the market. Men and women are at work with their sharpest knives to remove the fish fillets, and skin skate and dogfish. A chance to see the main steps involved in processing fish.
SORTING THE CATCH IN THE FISH MARKET: on Tuesday evenings only, a visit to an unusual place that is generally closed to the public: the fish market. See the teams at work sorting the fish, as well as getting the fish ready for the sale taking place early the next morning. You can see a wide variety of fish during the visit.
THE SEMAPHORE: a maritime building that is seldom open to the public. The job of the semaphore watchman is not well known. The visit is the opportunity to get to know a profession and its different tasks. Visit only on Thursday afternoons at 2 pm: Duration: 1 hr / 1hr 30 min.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SIGNAC AND SEURAT: a wonderful walk taking in the landscapes painted by Paul Signac and Georges Seurat, the two leading figures in the Neo-Impressionist movement, also known as Pointillism. The guide will show visitors how the landscape has changed since the two painters' time here and will give you some of the keys to understanding the works painted in Port-en-Bessin many years ago.
SEASIDE FAUNA AND FLORA: armed with your Wellington boots and net, take a trip to the foreshore, the rocky area laid bare at low tide. An encounter with the little creatures at the seaside. An introduction to their environment, identifying the different species, their way of life and movement, their food, etc.
