In Falaise, a museum devoted to civilians during the Second World War and during the D-Day Landings in Normandy.
The Second World War killed many more civilians than it did soldiers. But how did they experience and survive this battle that cost the lives of 65 million victims throughout the world?
This new museum in, Falaise, the Memorial to Wartime Civilians, is one of its kind across the globe. It talks of this lesser known facet of history, in Normandy and elsewhere: the day-to-day lives of civilian populations.
Designed by the Mémorial de Caen, the museum's scenography places emotion and memory transmission at the heart of the site's aims.
