Caen and its area’s third great abbey, the Abbey of our Lady of the Ardennes is located within the village of Saint-Germain-la-Blanche-Herbe, near Caen.
"Founded in the 12th century, the Abbey of our Lady of the Ardennes is steeped in history and has benefited from extensive renovation. Today, it houses the Institute of Contemporary Publishing Archives (IMEC) collections and activities.
Converted into a vast library, the abbey-church offers researchers the quiet and serene atmosphere that once swathed the monastic buildings. The vast farm courtyard, the gardens, tithe barn and press host events, colloquiums and exhibitions, and offer a place of residence for researchers and writers.
During temporary exhibitions, the site is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 2 to 6pm.
