Colline aux Oiseaux park

An immense floral park of over 17 hectares in the centre of Caen. The perfect destination for a family walk.

The Colline aux Oiseaux park in Caen was created on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. Located on a former waste disposal site, it is a fine example of site rehabilitation. The park comprises several themed gardens (boxwood and yew maze, perennial plants, experimental floral gardens, etc.). Don’t miss the superb rose garden, boasting over 15,000 roses, among which some 570 varieties, from the Middle Ages to the present day. Children are sure to appreciate the play structures and the animal park, where Normandy’s own regional species have pride of place. This green area is a genuine success story, for what was once a municipal wasteland has become a magnificently floral world devoted to peace. And to offer a perfect finish to your stroll, make sure you stop in at the mini-golf and Terrasse tearoom and restaurant. Unaccompanied tour time: 1 - 2 hours. Dogs are not permitted in the park.
