Located on the RN13 main road between Bayeux and Isigny, the La Cambe German war cemetery is home to over 21,000 graves.
On the ground, you will see the simple square plaques, scattered across a vast lawn, and marking the graves of the German soldiers. You can also take a stroll among the 1,220 maple trees planted in the garden of peace, to symbolise peace and reconciliation between nations. A visitor information centre offers an open-minded exhibition in three languages on themes such as Man in times of war, soldier’s individual responsibility, war crimes, military graves, and on the meaning of commemorations and remembrance. Unaccompanied tour: 1 hour.
