Themed guided tours to discover Port-en-Bessin. Lower Normandy's most important harbour unveils its secrets.
Eight guided tours are on the agenda throughout the year thanks to the Léopold Sédar Senghor Cultural Centre in Port-en-Bessin. Prior booking required.
The harbour, the fish market, the fauna and flora... but also the port's history are related by our cultural guides.
-"Le port de pêche" (The fishing port), presentation of the harbour, of its infrastructures and the many fishing-related trades
- "Le chantier naval" (The shipyard): presentation of the shipwright's trade, explanation on how to build and repair a wooden trawler
-"Faune et flore du bord de mer" (Seafront Fauna and Flora), discovery of the fauna and flora at low tide
-"Débarque sous criée" (Landed at the fish market): Tuesday evenings (minimum 10 participants)
-"Veiller et secourir" (Watch and save), tour of the semaphore on Tuesdays at 2pm (in French)
-"La transformation du poisson" (Processing fish): on Wednesdays at 10am (book at least one week before)
-"La libération de Port en Bessin Huppain en 1944" (The liberation of Port en Bessin Huppain in 1944)
-"Le port, selon Seurat et Signac" (The harbour according to Seurat and Signac), a tour of the landscapes of Port en Bessin, immortalised during the 19th century by these two Neo-Impressionist painters
