The Carville climbing site offers activities for beginners and experienced climbers alike.
The Carville cliff stands at a height of forty metres in an easily accessible natural site. The village of Carville is located between Vire and Caen. The site offers a few 2-pitch climbing routes of up to 40 metres. Most routes are accessible and 70% are graded 5 or less. The 75 currently equipped routes range from 2 to 7a+. They are perfectly equipped to COSIRIC standards with pins and chains in lieu of belay stations. However, a few routes are only accessible by top roping. Most route names are indicated at the foot. This south-facing cliff can become very hot in the summer and dries very quickly after showers, thanks to the nature of the rock. From the top of routes, you can admire the meanders of the River Vire, in the heart of the Normandy Bocage’s verdant parcels of land.
