Plage de Bernières-sur-Mer

The seafront promenade stretches across two kilometres and includes three ramps towards the beach.

On the fine sandy beach of this seaside resort on the Côte de Nacre coast, bathing is under lifeguard surveillance from early July to late August, between the Platon slipway and Place du Canada.

A ‘Tourism & Handicap’ certified Handymer station is at your disposal free of charge from July to September, by prior booking and offering: shower, WC, changing area with medical bed, resting armchair, microwave oven and refrigerator. A Tiralo and a Hippocampe, specially adapted wheelchairs, a trolley and a wheelchair are available for loan on request, by the lifeguard station. Rules pertaining to dogs: outside of the lifeguarded bathing area, on the rest of the beach, whatever the tide level, dogs are only tolerated when kept on a leash.

The presence of horses on the beach is permitted provided they remain on the foreshore beyond the northern extremity of the groynes, away from any visitors, swimmers, walkers or people fishing. When required to cross the forbidden area to join the inland area with the beach, they may do so but in the most perpendicular manner possible to the shoreline. Under no circumstances are horses permitted on the promenade, with the exception of crossing it, on the area in front of and behind the beach cabins.

Practical information:

Lifeguarded swimming: entrance to the Cale du Platon slipway and Place du Canada - during beach surveillance dates and times (subject to change by the S.N.S.M sea rescue service): July and August. Lifeguards/rescue swimmers are present at the lifeguard station from 11.30am. Effective bathing zone surveillance is from 1pm to 6pm. Except 14 July and 15 August: effective surveillance of the bathing zone from 1pm to 6.30pm. https://station-bernieres.snsm.org.

Shower - Available in July and August in front of the lifeguard station. WC - to the right of the lifeguard station - Rue Victor Tesnière, beside the French boules ground.

 Cycles: Cycle access is permitted in July and August before 10am and after 7pm, between the Cale du Platon slipway and Place du Canada. The rest of the year, cycles are permitted at all times.
