Located near Deauville, the Mont Canisy batteries overlook the sea. They comprise one of the major links in the Atlantic Wall during the Second World War.

It is precisely on the Mont Canisy clifftop that the French Navy established 2 batteries between 1935 and 1940 in order to ensure the safety of the Seine estuary and the port of Le Havre.

However, from 1942 to 1944, the Mont Canisy batteries became a strategic feature in the German defensive system on the Normandy beaches.

Several features can still be seen today: casemates, gun emplacements, fortifications linked by underground galleries...
