Founded in 1990, the Torbouai du Bessin Association (whose headquarters are situated in the harbour master's office in the Port of Grandcamp-Maisy) aims to renovate the 'Grandcopaise'.
Discover a replica of a trawler that, in its time, used to fish off the shores of Basse-Normandie, going as far as Tor Bay in English waters. Designed in 1934 and built in Cherbourg in 1949, the 'Grandcopaise' measures just under 50 feet in length. It came to Grandcamp in 1970 under the name of 'Franck-Yannick'. Sold in 1988 as a pleasure boat, then abandoned and sank, it was restored between 1990 and 1993 by members of the Torbouai du Bessin association who took action to preserve this unique vessel. Today, the association organizes sea outings from Grandcamp-Maisy to the Pointe du Hoc, Utah Beach, Saint-Vaast and Tatihou, even the Saint Marcouf islands. Please note that outings are subject to tide schedules, weather conditions and availability of the crew.
