Whether you opt for the Cotentin and Bessin Marshland natural regional park, natural reserves or sensitive natural areas, they all have their own treasures just waiting to be discovered.

From May to October, over 600 “Nature Escapades are organised to offer you an original insight into Mother nature’s hidden treasures.

The Orne estuary

The département of Calvados' leading natural preserved site, the Orne estuary is of major ecological interest.


Black Cow Cliffs

The Black Cow Cliffs are located between Houlgate and Villers-sur-Mer. Their name comes from a sailors’ song. When seen from the sea, these these huge algae-covered blocks of chalk on the beach are said to ressemble a herd of cows grazing at the foot of the cliff.


Breuil Wood

Located 4km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the rare forests on the coastline and is open to the public.


Pont ès RetoursWaterfall

Discover the River Vire waterfalls in this magnificent landscaped environment, offering direct access to Maisoncelles la Jourdan.


Rochers des Parksrocks

This emblematic Suisse Normande site is well known for its rocky escarpments and can be visited from below, along the banks of the Orne, or from above, along the pathway that overlooks the cliff.


Omaha Beach

Omaha Beach is famous for its American Military Cemetery where 5,000 soldiers, fallen in the name of liberty, are laid to rest.
