Russian magic is back to Deauville with the étoiles of best ballet companies and one of the most promising young painters, according to the Phillips Auction House. Nikolay Koshelev introduces his artistic project titled “Moon Pool”: Sets for Imaginary Ballet

Nikolay Koshelev, painter and ceramicist, lives in Moscow and in New York. He is graduated from the Monumental and Decorative painting school of Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts and obtained an MFA at the New York Academy of Art. He is the youngest Russian painter whose works are on international public sale by the Phillips Auction House. Nikolay Koshelev, “rising star” of the artistic world, is very well quoted in the international auction houses and his works exhibited in museums in the United States, in Russia and in several European countries. His works are presented in France for the first time. Nikolay Koshelev found his inspiration in the Russian art of the beginning of the 20th century. He combines different techniques and textures to create a new very personal language.
His project titled “Moon Pool” started five years ago. Moon Pool redefines the historic context of the Russian artistic symbolism and of the artistic heritage of the Diaghilev’s Russian seasons. The first part of the Moon Pool project is exhibited during the Russian Art Festival of Deauville.
