Exposition en dessins

FMANOR014V54Q3XE

Description

As the United States entered the Second World War in December 1941, Tony Strobl set aside his work with Walt Disney to join the ranks of the US Army. His drawing skills led him to join a military propaganda unit based at the Château de Colombières, where he used the famous "Jiminy Cricket" character to represent the unit?s insignia.
The exhibition will highlight the importance of Tony Strobl?s work with the Ritchie Boys, as well as the little-known role played by Disney Studios during the Second World War. In fact, Disney artists produced hundreds of military badges featuring Disney cartoon characters.
This insignia was also found on the jacket of 2nd Lt Chester G. ULRICH, whose P-47 crashed just outside Isigny on June 15, 1944 - in full view of his crewmates - as he was returning from a mission in the Haye du Puits sector.
