Hortense HAUPAIS is a painter and furniture restorer.
Her paintings represent inside scenes and are displayed in her paintings: it’s a form of metatheatre.

Hortense Haupais has been painting since she was a child. At 8, she was already participating in contests.

She attended courses at the Beaux-Arts and was a pupil of Michel Piel, painter from Cabourg.

The protagonists of her paintings are furniture, carpets, lamps and her own sea paintings.
The canvas on the walls represent other inside scenes and contains windows overlooking imaginary places.

She figures out how her furniture and styles would fit in a specific context. Many are her pictorial views through a window, her perspectives on nature. Air and light reach the inside from the window.
