Korngold, compared to Mozart for being a composing genius at an early age, had a successful career in Hollywood. The works composed during his “serious” period in Austria (lyric works, symphonies and concertos) are experiencing a rebirth today. Bertrand Chamayou performs his marvellous quintet with the Hanson quartet, a group of young musicians captivated by Schubert.

Bohuslav Martin (1890 -1959)
Variations on a Slovakian theme for cello and piano H.378

Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897 – 1957)
Quintet with piano Op. 15

Franz Schubert
“Death and the Maiden” Quartet No. 14 D. 810

Bertrand Chamayou, piano
Victor Julien-Laferrière, cello
Hanson quartet:
Anton Hanson, Jules Dussap, violin
Gabrielle Lafait, viola
Simon Dechambre, cello

Every spring, the Easter Festival allows a hundred young instrumentalists and chamber ensembles to join in a trio or an orchestra voice, string, woodwind, brass, percussion and keyboard instruments.
